Think they told me about this and you have to give them your SS or drivers licence #. I'm weird about stuff like that, so I told them not interested. This might be something different IDK.

At Spectrum. Just go ask them about it. I have had this for years. I ask them if there was a cheaper service, and they gave me this.

CABLE TV IS TOTALLY OVERPRICED. Streaming is getting higher. Going to have to watch ads it looks like. Can't do without internet or think I can't.

Great idea if you live alone, I would if that happens. Cancel house insurance if at home most of the time. I'm thinking about it, there's a limit I will pay.

Bed sheets, had to buy new ones month ago. Last two sets came from Kohl's, egyptain cotton, vera wang, 800 thread count, 159 set plus tax. This time I tried couple of sets from Walmart, was I surprised. They were great, better than the vera wang. I got the Hotel Style, 100% cotton, 600 thread count 66 dollars a set. Washed both sets and slept on both sets, love them. Saved bunch on money, 600 thread count is great feel. Make sure they are 100 percent cotton.

A few months ago, @DLD mentioned using instant coffee at home and it cost about $0.17 /cup.

That led me to track my own coffee cost!

Several years ago I bought a grinder, then started buying dark roast beans and grinding them just before brewing a pot. I buy Starbucks Caffe Verona beans when they're on sale for $6.99 for a 12 ounce bag ($0.5825 per ounce), then put them in the freezer.

This last bag made almost exactly 3,000 ounces of coffee. That comes to $0.00233/ ounce.

If you drink 8 ounce cups, that would be just under $0.02 /cup ($0.01864).

I've also bought Lowes Food brand coffee, but they don't have Caffe Verona. The closest I've found is their French Roast, but the flavor is a bit weaker. If you're OK with that, their 10 ounce bags are sometimes on sale for $4.99 ($0.499 per ounce). I haven't actually tested it out, but in theory that should come to about $0.015968 /cup. It's a matter of opinion, I guess, whether the $0.002672 savings per cup is worth the weaker flavor.

Similarly, you can also buy a permanent coffee filter for about $5-6, then just dump the grounds and rinse it out after each use instead of buying disposable filters. The flavor is a little more rich, and I've used the same filter for several years

Great one, Tilly!

I'm working on paying my mom's bills today, and it makes me want to reiterate my post about the impulse items and thrift shops.

She LOVES going to thrift stores, then ends up buying a bunch of things she doesn't need because "it's only $5" or whatever.

But I'm looking and can see that she's spent about $300 this month at these stores! All on things she doesn't need, and usually doesn't even remember buying.

She's like a lot of you, her only income is social security and $300 is a lot! But it goes out in such small increments that she doesn't even realize she's blowing it.

If you like foaming hand soap, instead of buying the expensive refills buy a bottle of regular liquid soap and fill your empty foaming pump bottle about 1/3 with soap and 2/3 with water. Gently turn the bottle upside down, back and forth until mixed well.
One liquid refill will last a long time this way.

Another one...

Buy a bag of brown rice and stop buying potatoes.

Your body can't tell the difference between white potatoes and sugar, but brown rice is full of vitamins and complex carbohydrates. It's healthier, a natural laxative, and lasts far longer so there's less waste. You'll save money and get healthier at the same time!

Another one...

Use a credit card that gives sky miles or cash back for everything, and then pay it off at the end of every month.

Here are several cards that offer 1-5% cash back...

If you spend $4000 a month on expenses and have a card with a flat 2% cashback, that's $960 you get for free at the end of the year

The American Express Preferred with a $95 annual fee is similar to what I use. It gives 6% back from supermarkets and streaming subscriptions, then 3% on gas and 1% on everything else.

If you spend $1000 a month on groceries, that's $60 a month you get back.

If you spend $200 a month on streaming services, that's another $12 you get back.

And if you spend $200 a month on gas, that's another $6 you get back.

Assuming you still spend another $2800 a month on other things, you'll get another $28 back on that.

Take off the $95 annual fee, and that's a free $1,177 a year! I invest my cash back in the stock market, so it's just free money that makes me more money.

And as an added bonus, when you pay that bill at the end of the month it will make you reevaluate just how much money you spent on things like flavored coffee and unnecessary junk.

Write a grocery list, and stick to it! Don't waste money on impulse items.

Similarly, avoid stores that encourage you to buy in bulk because you think it's cheaper... Sam's Club, thrift stores, etc. You end up walking out with $100 worth of things you don't need and convince yourself that you saved money because you bought so much, but then most of it ends up in a closet or thrown away.

Biden told the news today to get the reporting right on the economy. NBC News then reported that the economy is doing great and Biden went on vacation and the economy would do dramatically better if he stayed on vacation.

Tou could have a neighborhood WIFI. You could also have a neighborhood water hook up. You could have a neighborhood trash pickup. You could do the same with power hookups.

Stop buying the cheapest gas! I found that BP gas gives me better gas mileage than Speedway or Murphy, so I fill up every 9-10 days instead of 7 days. At the end of the month I've saved about 25%.

You can get a BP card that knocks $0.05 off the price, too.
