I have published books in the past and am working on one now. It's an expensive, time-intensive, risky adventure.

FYI My church used the following company to publish our cookbook....
http://www.morriscookbooks....
There is a minimum order of 100 cookbooks, for a book with 150 or less recipes, it is only $4.40 each. It goes up as the number of cookbooks go up. That is for a softcover cookbook, they also have hard cover and three ring binders. :)
